SyFy To Develop Reboot Of SciFi Classic ‘Blake’s 7,’ Heroes Scribe To Write Pilot… We’ve Got The Originals [VIDEOS]

Well, big time news here!  SyFy (y’know the network that everyone accuses of not airing any actual science fiction and only airing wrestling for 72 hours per week in prime-time) is developing a reboot of the cult-classic BBC series, Blake’s 7 with Heroes scribe Joe Pokaski writing the script for the pilot (see the press release below).

For those of you who don’t remember, Blake’s 7 ran from 1978 – 1981 and centered around a ragtag group of political prisoners and outcasts fighting against a totalitarian regime in space and exploring along the way.  Think of it as Star Trek meets Farscape meets Firefly.  Despite its cheesy visual effects, the series, which lasted for four years, became well-known for its fantastic writing and superbly developed characters.

There have been several attempts to bring Blake’s 7 back to television, with the most recent being  in 2008 when the UK’s Sky One network had announced its intention to develop the series again.  Those plans fell through in 2010 when the network ended their involvement on the project with no reason cited as to why.

With this news, we’ve been given the perfect opportunity to give our readers a sneak peek at our new YouTube Channel that we are simply calling Channel 2.  Channel 2 will be hosting a variety of films and television shows that we can get away with posting without YouTube getting all over us for copyright violations.  You’d be amazed at how much is out there, such as… Blake’s 7!  That’s right, the first addition to the channel will be the entire 52 episode series of Blake’s 7 uncut, and you can even just watch it on your Playstation 3 or XBOX 360.  Now, we’ve got series (season) one up already so just be patient and give us some time to upload the subsequent episodes that are sitting on our hard drives.
